About Me

Post-doctoral researcher at the Hamburg University (Germany), working at the Hamburg Observatory. I like to observe non-thermal phenomena in radio galaxies and galaxy clusters at different radio wavelenghts.

Together with this, I am currently working in HPC and GPU enabling of softwares for radio interferometric imaging.

I love sports (huge football and tennis fan), music, and crime novels.

Skills

Programming languages and interfaces

C/C++, Python, Bash, CWL, Fortran, IDL, definetly *not* HTML (as you can easily guess from this website...)

MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, HIP, for parallelization and GPU offloading on multiple architectures; NVIDIA HPC-SDK, ROCm, and profiling tools (such as NVIDIA Nsight)

Wide expertise in working with high-level HPC clusters, such as Leonardo (CINECA), Setonix (Pawsey) and Pleiadi (INAF), and SLURM job management

Software

Developer of Radio Imaging Code Kernels (RICK), to parallelize and accelerate algorithms for interferometric imaging

LOFAR data reduction pipelines (LINC/Prefactor, DDFpipeline, LOFAR-VLBI pipeline) and dependent softwares (DP3, WSClean)

CASA data calibration and imaging using VLA data (both total intensity and polarization)

Capture and SPAM pipeline for uGMRT

Activities

PhD in Astropysics (Nov. 2022 - Oct. 2025) funded by Italian Research Center for High-Performance Computing (Fondazione ICSC)

Member of the LOFAR Galaxy clusters WG

Winner of PhD mobility grant “Marco Polo” from the University of Bologna to spend 3 months in Leiden (Netherlands, March 15th - June 15th 2024)

Contributed talks in conferences/workshops, most of them of international relevance.

Tutor for the course "MULTIWAVELENGTH ASTROPHYSICS LABORATORY-Modulo 5" at the faculty of "Astrophysics and cosmology" (Università di Bologna); support to the students on calibration and imaging of radio astronomy, Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) data using CASA reduction software (Sept - Oct 2023 and 2024).

Tutor at the PhD school "Computing and High Performance Computing in Astronomy and Astrophysics" held in Bologna; support to the participants for the MPI parallelism and CUDA programming architecture for GPU offloading (July 2024).
